MSCI-
I am happy to report how pleased I have been to serve on the board observing the work done by the board and the many details and issues created and followed through by all. I knew our board was busy when I was President but not to the degree of the wideness of the assuming of new issues to help coaches. You outdo yourself with effort and energy. Kudos to all and especially Ruth for her responsibility & acceptance this year for the Mackinac conference and States too. I enjoyed getting to know all of you better.

I do know that after this year I will be leaving the board and my hope is that the nominating committee (whoever they are with MSCI) does pursue agressively the incorporation of new members North, South, East and West so that balance in the board members can be encouraged. Obviously, my spot will be up for a new board member for starters next May. Both Brian and Ashley who ran and others may wish to be renominated but also a good number of 'persons who lost the election' from the meeting at Mackinac could enhance the board with their ideas and efforts as well. (I submit this idea not to say that we have anyone on the board that is weak or should leave so don't misinterpret but to suggest that we have a responsibility to bring new people to leadership as well as appreciate the present leadership.)

Finally, Margaret Miller of past MSCI fame (original founder of our organization as well as leader on MIFA council for many years) along with operation of tournaments with high number of I.E. winners and debate successes was honored Thursday (May 21) at Kal Central. Andy Mollema formerly of Three Rivers, Roger Mattens, formerly of Battle Creek Central, Kris Kirkpatrick, formerly of Loy Norrix, Kathy Mulay, formerly of Portage Central, Dan Coyne of Comstock and myself were on hand to praise Margaret. At 84, she still has zest for living and speech. The evening was a tribute that went well led by KCHS students and Chris Bullmer, coach.
It would be well for MSCI (whomever does this writing of letters) to send a tribute letter to Margaret at this address: 5749 Stadium Dr. Apt 133, Kalmazoo, MI. 49009
She coached in seven locations for over 30 years, the most at KCHS, of course.) She was an inspirationfrom past...right Steve!

It was my pleasure (almost always) to know and follow the leadership of Margaret for many years. She was kind and welcoming and a "tough old bird" when she needed to be. An MSCI tribute would be highly appropriate.

Kirstin or Ruth,
Can one of you write a letter of tribute? That would be really good.

Also, Mench, does that mean after the summer meeting you're stepping down from the board?
